Short answer: if a page sells something, its price should be written on the page as text, with the currency, and ideally repeated in Offer markup. A price that only appears inside an image, a slider or a "contact us for pricing" button can't be read by a search engine or an AI answer. Crawl Audit check 21 warns when a commercial page has no price it can read.

What Crawl Audit checks

  • Pass: the page text contains a price, meaning a $, £ or € followed by a number, or the page has Product markup.
  • Warning: the page looks commercial ("add to cart", "buy now", "add to bag", "checkout", or Offer markup) but no readable price was found.
  • Pass: nothing commercial on the page, so there's nothing to price.

A limitation if you sell in rupees: the check only recognises the $, £ and € symbols. A price written "Rs 1,490" or "PKR 1,490", or in dirhams, isn't counted. So a Pakistani shop with an "add to cart" button and prices only in rupees can get this warning even though its prices are perfectly readable. If that's you, check the page yourself, and add Product markup with "priceCurrency": "PKR", which the check does count.

What Google says

  • In Product markup, price is "The offer price of a product", and priceCurrency is "The currency used to describe the product price, in three-letter ISO 4217 format": PKR, GBP, USD, AED.
  • The markup has to match the page: "Don't mark up content that is not visible to readers of the page."
  • Google Merchant Center asks sellers to "Show the price in the currency of your target country prominently on your landing page".

What to do

  1. Write the price as text near the product name: "PKR 1,490 a month", not just "1,490".
  2. Say what it includes and how often it's charged: one time, monthly or yearly.
  3. Add an Offer inside your Product markup with price and priceCurrency (check 9 shows a full example).
  4. If you really can't publish prices, say why and give a range or a starting point in text. "Priced per project" with no number gives a reader, and an AI answer, nothing to work with.
"offers": {
  "@type": "Offer",
  "price": 1490,
  "priceCurrency": "PKR"
}

On your platform

  • Shopify, Wix Stores and Squarespace Commerce: prices are shown as text and included in the platform's product markup automatically. Set the store currency correctly in settings.
  • WordPress: e-commerce plugins print prices as text. On a services page, write the price in the page copy.
  • Next.js: render the price from the same data as the Offer markup.
